It may be a bit of a wrench to drag yourself away from the coast, but the effort will be rewarded. Dirt roads follow the crest of a forested ridge South to Palasca, a delightful hill village. The way then steepens before rising more gradually to the Bocca a Leccia where the first views open up to the mountains of the GR20 - a dramatic serrated skyline in the distance.
Mountain village of Olmi |
A delightful set path meanders down to Olmi, another sleepy village, clinging on to the rocky slopes. The trail then enters the forest to finish alongside the Tartagine River, finally reaching the welcome of the Maison de Forestiere, an ancient hunting lodge, now serving as an all-year-round gite d'etape.
